McGill University
I am a second year Master's student at IPN, McGill, working in the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence. I use artificial neural networks to model attention in primates. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, and drawing. Looking forward to all the cool UNIQUE events we will have this year!

Université de Montréal
I am a postdoctoral researcher at Courtois NeuroMod project (CRIUGM) and working with with Prof. Pierre Bellec in implementing encoding models to predict brain activities of processing the natural language using representations extracted from natural language models. My main interest lies in developing approaches to improve the predictive performance of the neural networks of language models with well-defined features from the cross-model brain representations of naturalistic information processing.

Université de Montréal
I am a master's candidate in neuroscience at UdeM. My research focuses on social and cognitive neuroscience using machine learning analysis. I am part of the USS organization team as the communication lead for the UNIQUE Student Affairs Committee (SAC). This is my first year on the USS organization committee and I am very excited to help organize such an event.

Université de Montréal and Mila
I’m a PhD student at Mila and Université de Montréal supervised by Guillaume Lajoie. I’m broadly interested in using AI to understand learning in the brain, and using neuroscience to improve AI. Currently, I’m working on understanding the dynamics of learning in the brain from observable activations.

I am a Neuroscience PhD student at McGill University's Integrated Program, collaborating with Prof. Sylvain Baillet and Prof. John Kalaska in advancing knowledge of non-motor functions of the motor cortex, an area of the brain classically known for its role in executive functions such as decision making. I have a strong interest in devising and implementing sophisticated techniques to measure complex patterns in ongoing human brain activity. I am very excited to be part of the UNIQUE community and looking forward to collaborating with other members of this community to improve our understanding of the brain and develop new tools to address important questions in neuroscience.

Mila - Quebec AI Institute
I'm a graduate student at Université de Montréal and Mila pursuing M.Sc in Computer Science (Machine Learning). I'm primarily interested in the advancement of AI systems through the development of brain-inspired memory models. My current research focuses on understanding the connectivity and dynamics of memory in the neocortex.

Sen Li is a Ph.D. student at the Department of electrical engineering at École de technologie supérieure, Montreal, Canada. His research focuses on the analysis of human spinal deformity from freehand 3D ultrasound imaging using deep learning techniques. He served as a Lead Teaching Assistant for Neuromatch Academy's deep learning course in 2021. He is interested in image processing, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.

Chair
McGill University and Montreal General Hospital
Kira graduated with a combined honors degree in neurobiology and psychology in 2022 at the University of Victoria. Here, she conducted a thesis studying conscious versus subliminal perception and contributed to several papers reviewing non-neuronal cells in brain disorders. She is interested in consciousness, cognitive computational neuroscience, and neurophilosophy. Thus, during her master's program under McGill's Integrated Program in Neuroscience, Kira is collecting high-density EEG data from comatose patients in the intensive care unit. Namely, she is studying how varying levels of general anesthesia can change functional connectivity and investigating whether these changes can index patient diagnosis or prognosis. Furthermore, in a secondary project, Kira will apply machine learning techniques to DTI and EEG data to help identify patients with cognitive-motor dissociation.
